Section-level metering. Visible kWh.

Multifunction meters per panel, per floor or per cost centre, communicated over RS485 / Modbus to a web dashboard so plant operators and facility managers can see where the kWh actually go. It pays back through tariff optimisation, load discipline and early fault detection.

What we install

Five-part EMS, from meter to dashboard.

Every EMS deployment we do follows the same five layers. The choice within each layer adapts to budget and scope.

EMS / 01

Multifunction meters

Schneider · Rishabh · Elmeasure · L&T · Siemens. kWh, kVA, kVAR, power factor, voltage / current per phase, harmonics, demand. Class 0.5 / 1.0 accuracy with CT inputs sized to the bus.

EMS / 02

CT & PT instrumentation

Current transformers (CT) and potential transformers (PT) sized to the load, mounted in the panel. Typical CT specification: 15 VA burden, 0.5 class accuracy, separate CTs for power-factor sensing per phase.

EMS / 03

Communication backbone

RS485 / Modbus RTU daisy-chain between meters, with a Modbus-TCP gateway to the building's network. Optional 4 to 20 mA and pulse outputs for legacy SCADA integration where the customer already has one.

EMS / 04

Logger / gateway / server

Local data logger collecting meter readings on configurable intervals (typically 1 / 5 / 15 min). Forward to a local server (for air-gapped sites) or cloud (for multi-site facility management).

EMS / 05

Dashboard & alarms

Web dashboard with kWh trends by section, demand-profile graphs, power-factor and harmonics, tariff cost roll-up, and email or SMS alarms for over-demand, low PF and voltage out of range. Reports for monthly facility review.

What it pays back

Where the money comes back.

Section-level metering shows a facility where its money actually goes. The returns fall into the categories below.

RETURN / 01Tariff optimisation
Demand-charge visibility shows which loads cause peak coincidence, so the facility can shift or stagger them. Real bill reduction on TOD tariffs.
RETURN / 02Power-factor discipline
Continuous PF visibility per section keeps APFC sizing and switching correct, so the PF penalty on the bill stays off.
RETURN / 03Early fault detection
A motor drawing 12 % more current than its 6-month average is failing. The dashboard catches that before maintenance does, often months before breakdown.
RETURN / 04Cost allocation
Energy reporting at tenant, department or line level, for multi-tenant commercial buildings, malls, hospitals with internal cost centres and industrial sites with departmental accounting.
RETURN / 05Energy-audit baseline
Historical EMS data is what a Certified Energy Auditor uses to baseline an audit. With EMS in place, the next BEE energy audit is a faster, more accurate exercise.

Where EMS fits.

Not every project needs EMS. It earns its place at an installed load above roughly 250 kVA, in a multi-tenant or multi-department building where cost allocation matters, or at a critical-load site (hospital, data centre, pharma) where uptime visibility is the value. Below that, a monthly bill review may be enough.

We're happy to size and quote EMS as part of a turnkey electrical scope, or as a retrofit to an existing panel. Most multifunction meters can be retrofitted without panel modification, given suitable CT and PT space.

The promoter is a Certified Energy Auditor. Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Government of India. EMS deployments are sized and read with an auditor's eye: what the energy story actually is, where the wasted kWh sit, and which intervention is realistic.
