KEI house wires come in four insulation classes, each engineered for a specific fire-safety profile. Below, what each grade does and where it's the right call.
The everyday house wire. Flame-retardant PVC insulation prevents the wire itself from propagating a fire if a circuit faults. The right call for general-purpose house wiring.
Flame-retardant insulation with low smoke emission AND reduced halogen content, the smoke in a fire is both less obscuring and less corrosive than plain FR. Used for house wiring and industrial installations.
Zero halogen content, so in a fire the insulation emits no corrosive or toxic halogen gas. Specified for hospitals, malls, airports and high-rise buildings, and anywhere the public gathers.
House-wire range 1.0, 1.5, 2.5, 4 and 6 sq mm, supplied as Project Coils (300 m for 1.0 / 1.5 / 2.5 sq mm; 200 m for 4 / 6 sq mm). Standard colour codes: Red, Yellow, Blue (phase), Black (neutral), Green (earth). All ISI marked.

Wire is one of the few electrical components whose specification has more to do with what happens in a fault than in normal service. The insulation chemistry (FR, FRLSH, HFFR) is the difference between a contained fault and a building-wide problem.
